The Kaduna State Government has declared the last Saturday of every month as Statewide Sanitation Day, launching a reinvigorated clean-up campaign to boost public health, improve hygiene, and tackle environmental threats across the state.

In a statement issued by the Honourable Commissioner for Information, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, the first exercise will take place on Saturday, November 29, 2025, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

The Honourable Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Abubakar Buba, described the initiative as a bold step toward creating cleaner, safer, and healthier communities. He urged community leaders, local councils, civil society groups, and other stakeholders to mobilise residents and take ownership of their surroundings.

“A clean environment means a safer, healthier Kaduna State. We urge every resident to come out and take part,” Buba emphasised.

He added that government monitoring teams will be stationed across the state to ensure smooth coordination and strong compliance.

Reinforcing the message, the Honourable Commissioner for Information, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, stated that the sanitation exercise is a key component of Governor Uba Sani’s strategy to curb flooding, prevent environmental hazards, and safeguard public health.

“This is more than sweeping streets. It is a strategic, preventive action to stop floods, cut down environmental risks, and protect the wellbeing of our people,” he said.

The Kaduna State Government calls on all residents to cooperate fully, noting that a cleaner environment is a shared responsibility and a necessary foundation for a healthier, more resilient Kaduna.
