Miss Teesha Ogerinya Otunsha from Nasarawa State has won the 6th edition of Sarauniya Crown Queen, and went home with N1million as prize, having defeated 36 other contestants from 35 States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.
This was as she has vowed to ensure that she returns out-of-school-children back to school in the country.
The grand event took place early December 2023 in Kaduna but she was crowned on January 13, 2024.
However, according to the organiser of the beauty event, Mr. Samaila Aditi Ogwuche, the contest provided opportunities for young women to flourish and explore their potentials.
Asked how she received the announcement as the winner of the 6th edition of Miss Sarauniya, Teesha Ogerinya Otunsha said, “I didn’t expect the sudden news, however I was so happy to the extent that I had to scream to let it sink.
“My pet project for the next one year is to impact, educate and empower the world especially the girl-child in Nigeria and Africa at large.
“My pet project for the upcoming year during my reign is to advocate for quality education, and return out-of-school children back to the classroom.
“And I want to give my piece of advice to other young ladies never to give up on thier dreams, rather they should stand up and go after it.”
For the organiser, Ogwuche, “The recently concluded Miss Sarauniya beauty pageant, is a prominent and prestigious event in Nigeria, and it crowned Miss Teesha Ogerinya Otunsha from Nasarawa State as the winner among 37 remarkable contestants, representing the 36 States and the FCT.
“I want to reaffirm my enduring commitment to supporting young talents.
“Over the last 10 years I have dedicated myself to various social development projects such as Tehila music festival, Dandalin DanHsusawa variety show, Gargajiya food and fashion festival in Hausa language, Miss Naija beauty pageant, Sarauniya beauty pageant and numerous others.
“The 6th edition of Sarauniya with the theme, “Shine On”, provided incredible opportunities for young women to flourish and explore their potentials.
“The competition serves as a platform for self-discovery, confidence-building , fostering unity among women nationwide, celebrating our rich cultures, diverse fashions, and empowering contestants with essential skills and financial support for their future ventures.
“The star prize of N1 million was awarded to Miss Teesha in the Shine On edition. She was also given Ambassadorship of DanHausawa Media Nigeria.
“This prestigious award aims at facilitating personal growth, academic pursuits and further support the winner’s endeavours in creating a positive impact on the society.
“The vision, through the Sarauniya beauty pageant, is to inspire young women to fearlessly pursue their dreams, embrace their individuality, and make meaningful contributions to their communities.
“The initiative, undoubtedly paves the way for a brighter and more empowered future for all”.
