Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, the 22nd Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), has retired.
Ariwoola retired after reaching the age of seventy. He was born on August 22, 1954.
On 22 November 2011, he was promoted to the Supreme Court bench and named substantive Chief Justice on 27 June 2022.
Ariwoola was appointed as CJN following the resignation of Justice Tanko Muhammad.
Justice Ariwoola was finally confirmed as Chief Justice of Nigeria by the Nigerian Senate on September 21, 2022.
Events of Ariwoola’s retirement are ongoing at the Supreme Court.
However, there are signs that Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun could succeed Ariwoola as the new CJN.
