Scores of friends, associates and constituents of Igbo-Eze North/ Udenu Federal Constituency, Enugu state were at the National Assembly recently to witness the swearing -in and inauguration of the elected member representing the constituency at the House of Representatives, Engr Simon Chukwuemeka Atigwe.
Atigwe was elected after the February 3, 2024 Appeal Court ordered rerun election following the nullification of the February 25 , 2023 general election result for the constituency where Hon Dennis Agbo of labour party was declared winner.
Lady Oby Ajih of APC had sought the court nullification over the non inclusion of her party logo in the ballot during the elections.
After the rerun election, Atigwe of the PDP polled 23,863 to defeat Agbo of Labour Party who polled 23, 226 and Oby of APC who polled 1, 812.
Meanwhile, Executive Chairman of Igbo-Eze North LGA, Prince (Engr) Ejike Itodo has congratulated Atigwe on his election to now serve as a ranking member in the House of Reps.
The Igbo Eze North Mayor described Atigwe’s victory as a confirmation of the confidence and trust the masses have in him which is a well-earned recognition of his hard work and records of quality representations and persistence.
Prince Itodo also specifically thanked the Executive Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency Barr. Peter Mbah whom he said that it was the governor’s records of ground breaking achievements within the space of few months in office that rekindled and strengthened the confidence and trust the masses have in the party PDP that majorly contributed to the party’s victory in the rerun election.
“I also thank the masses for coming out during the rerun to perform their civic duties. It is now incumbent upon all of us to come together and support Hon. Engr. Atigwe in his efforts to bring about positive change and create a better tomorrow for our constituency in tandem with the visions of the Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency Barr Peter Mbah” he said.
