Journalist, author and convener of The Single Ladies’ Conference, Mary Chinda, at the weekend launched her new book, The Single Lady: Starting Over, during the Lagos edition, Series 2.0, of the conference held at Dominion City Church, Lekki.
Timed to coincide with Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2026, the event offered unmarried women a unique platform to engage with seasoned speakers. Chioma Agwunobi of Sharcee Media addressed spiritual warfare and marital delays, while Lady Lovett Obiakalusi of Harriet New Life Foundation spoke on “Preparing for Marriage” and “Wife Before Wife.” Coach Samson Akinosho shared insights on common marital challenges, drawing on his extensive experience as a counsellor.
By unveiling her book at the conference, Chinda combined inspiration with practical guidance for attendees. Explaining the purpose of her book, she said, “The title The Single Lady: Starting Over is aimed at helping any woman handling a breakup, a heartbreak, or a toxic relationship. It’s to remind her that her worth is not defined by a relationship but by Jesus.”
She continued, “You matter to God, and you’re worth the life of God. If God could give His Son, it means that you matter. You need to heal before you deal. You need to be a wholesome person before you become a wife.”
Chinda emphasised spiritual and personal growth over desperation. “God is more interested in you becoming a wife than you are. Your being a wife is God’s idea. So, don’t rush into marriage. Focus on building character, cultivating a kingdom mindset, and preparing yourself spiritually and emotionally. When you meet a kingdom man, you’ll know,” she said.
The event and book launch together highlighted Chinda’s mission: to empower single women to navigate love, relationships, and personal growth with faith, clarity, and confidence.
