Jigawa North East senatorial candidate of the PDP, and former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Nuraddeen Muhammad has hailed the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar over his sympathy visit to the Emir of Hadejia, Alhaji Adamu Haruna over the recent flood disaster in the area.
The former minister who described the visit as critical to his constituents, said the gesture has given them hope and promised that both his representation and the new PDP administration would take flood management as top priority.
The monarch, who described Atiku as a friend of the Hadeja people and the state, appealed for governments at all levels to address the challenge of perennial floods once and for all
Atiku made a donation of 50million to the community and linked the worsening floods to climate change. He said efforts at mitigation and adaptation to global warming were key and would be his focus if elected president next year.
Abubakar was accompanied by Alhaji Sule Lamido, a former governor of the state and national leader of the party; DG Atiku/Okowa 2023 Presidential Campaign Council and Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwa; PDP gubernatorial candidate in the state, Mustapha Sule Lamido, his running mate Dr Babandi Gumel and other party leaders and supporters of the party.
Floods had hit Jigawa State, most especially the North East Senatorial Zone in September this year claiming 106 lives and billions of naira in ruins.
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar also paid similar visit to the Emir of Dutse; Alhaji Nuhu Sunusi at his palace in Dutse, the state capital.
