Plans are underway to establish Israeli-style kibbutz (farm settlements) in the seven Igbo-speaking states of Nigeria.

This was revealed by the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State on Youth Mobilization, Tony Uche Ezekwelu, while addressing a contingency of National Youth Council South East Stakeholders during their meeting at the weekend held at Mayroses Hotel, Amawbia.

The states are involved are Anambra, Imo, Enugu, Abia, Ebonyi, Delta and Rivers States.

Uche added that a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between Anambra State government and some training institutes to take 100 youths for training in specialized agricultural system in Israel every year.

“These trainees would be trained in the advanced all inclusive agricultural system and when they come back to Nigeria these Israelis would help them establish Kibbutz as they have it in Israel,” he said.

He disclosed that the government has plans to empower at least ten thousand youths this year, saying that the Obiano administration was all-inclusive.
