From Aidoghie Paulinus, Abuja
Sequel to the Israel-Gaza conflict, the Palestinian Ambassador to Nigeria, Abdullah Shawesh, has said the applicability of the international law should not be selective.
This was even as he said military solutions will never work in the ongoing conflict.
Shawesh who briefed journalists in Abuja said: “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.
“The applicability of the international law should not be selective.
“The hypocrisy and double standards will only entrench the rift between the countries, and inside the countries themselves.
“The military solutions did not work in the past and will never ever work.
“The Palestinian people have the full right to self-determination and to be free, the basic and fundamental human rights that Israel and its western supporters are completely denying for far too long.”
Earlier, Shawesh said on the 26th day of the Israeli Western war against the Palestinian people, the humanitarian situation became unlivable and 2.2 million in Gaza became a laboratory to new types of invented weapons.
He classified the war in three categories namely: physical war, media war and political war.
Shawesh disclosed that the number of Palestinian martyrs as of today exceeded 8700 in Gaza and 114 in the occupied West Bank, 73 percent of them are children women and elderly.
He further disclosed that the total number of the injured in Gaza reached more than 20,000, while in the West Bank it has reached 2000.

One third of the hospitals, and 46 out of 72 of the primary health care in Gaza are out of service due to the direct attacks or the lack of fuel, all the hospitals are under a daily threat and they were requested to be evacuated many times.
“Thousands of the kidney failure, cancer and other chronic diseases patients are in critical condition and many of them will lose their lives due to the lack of the necessary medicines.
“Due to the lack of fresh water, hygiene and crowdedness, many infectious diseases started to erupt on crowd shelter centers, such as smallpox, scabies, and diarrhea.
“Due to the Israeli attack, 150,000 housing units became not inhabitant, while 2,7781 were totally leveled. 1.4 million civilians were forcefully internally displaced from North to South Gaza. Six hundred and sixty thousand (660,000) took shelter in the United Nations premises, mosques, churches, hospitals and at their relative’s homes.
“Gaza is under the Israeli siege since 2007, and is considered under the Israeli occupation according to the international law. Israel has totally cut the water supply and electricity and any other essential and basic needs for life since the beginning of the recent escalation,” Shawesh stated.
