Palestinian Ambassador to Nigeria Abdullah Shawesh has described the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestinians as a big loss to all the parties, insisting that nowhere is safe until everywhere is safe, thus he demanded a stop to the war.
He told journalists at media parley organised by the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), in Abuja, on Wednesday, the though Palestinians have lost suffered severe destructions and displacement, but Israel is the biggest loser in the ongoing conflict with Hamas fighters.
He said that up till now, Israel has been unable to neutralise Hamas fighters in Gaza as they would desired neither have they secured the release of all Israeli hostages that have been held captives by Hamas fighters over two months into the fight.
In addition to that, he said that Israel has lost global respect, and had also been unofficially recognised by the global community as a violators of all human rights charters. “Unfortunately, the global community has failed us, and had also failed to prevail on Israel to respect the rights of Palestinian civilians in Gaza.
“From all indications, we have come to terms with the fact that there’s selective implementation of human right laws by the global community led by the United Nations. But amidst this, Palestinians are determined that they won’t be perpetually enslaved by the Jews in Israel, nether would they succumb to the hypocrisy of the international community”
He appreciated the support that had come from Nigerian government particularly the Muslim community in Nigeria who had joined the global call for ceasefire in Gaza.
He added: “the western media has not been objective in reporting the conflict and its history. However, we are not asking for too much. We want our story to be heard and objectively presented to the world. Social media has given us the alternative to achieve that.”
He suggested a stronger platform for genuine dialogue and negotiation by all warring parties, that would, expectedly, herald an end to the war.
