Missiles fired from Iran early Wednesday have caused air raid sirens to sound over most of Israel, forcing citizens to take shelter in fortified places.
As alerts went out across the country, the Israeli military said that its troops were “operating to intercept the threat,” turning on air defences.
Major residents obeyed the shelter order, withdrawing to safe shelters including underground caverns and fortified rooms until the all-clear was issued.

There were no immediate reports of direct impacts or injuries from this latest attack, and the alerts lasted for a few minutes before being lifted.
Although the Israeli police stated they were looking into places where shrapnel or interceptor fragments of the Iranian missile might have landed, Israel’s emergency medical service reported no confirmed injuries.
This most recent missile activity has to do with an ongoing conflict in the Middle East, where Iran and Israel have been exchanging strikes and counterstrikes in the wake of a wider military escalation in recent days.
