IPOB denies accusations of ESN as armed wing

From Stanley Uzoaru, Owerri

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has denied insinuations that the Eastern Security Network (ESN) is its armed affiliate.

Spokesman of the group Emma Powerful, in a statement released to the media on Thursday, maintained that it was established to protect people of the South East from herdsmen ravaging their farmlands.

Powerful has also clarified that IPOB has no camps inside the forest but staging post at borders where it checks herdsmen.

He said “ESN founded by our leader have no camps in the forests of Biafraland. What ESN have are strategically located staging posts at our borders from which nemerous armed incursions into Biafraland by killer herdsmen have been repelled on countless occasions.

“ESN is not the armed or military wing of IPOB, it solely exists to keep Biafrans safe from the ravages of terrorist killer herdsmen now plaguing Benue and Plateau States.

“Since the launch of ESN by our Supreme Leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the main objective of ensuring the safety of farmlands in the East has been largely accomplished,” Powerful stated.
