Interswitch, through its health-tech subsidiary Interswitch eClat, has deployed its Electronic Medical Records (EMR) platform, eClinic, in the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Enugu (NOHE).
Commissioned by the Minister of State for Health, Dr. Iziaq Salako, the Enugu deployment marks the fourth rollout of eClinic in federal health institutions, following successful implementations in Osun, Ogun and Edo states.
This initiative aligns with the Federal Ministry of Health’s digital transformation agenda and follows Interswitch’s recent partnership with the Lagos State Government on the Smart Health Information Platform (SHIP).
Designed to enhance clinical workflows and improve patient outcomes, eClinic provides real-time, centralised access to patient records and supports a wide range of hospital functions, including registration, diagnostics, pharmacy management and reporting. Built with flexibility in mind, it operates in both online and offline modes to ensure uninterrupted service.
Dr. Salako noted that the deployment in Enugu reflects the government’s commitment to modernising healthcare and strengthening public-private partnerships for measurable impact. He emphasised that digital tools like eClinic reduce administrative burdens, improve care coordination and support data-driven planning and evaluation.
Babatunde Fadeyi, Vice President of Health Ecosystem (Public Sector) at Interswitch, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to innovation and strategic collaboration. “With eClinic, we are empowering healthcare professionals to deliver more efficient and effective care nationwide,” he said.
Each deployment of eClinic is tailored to meet the specific needs of the host institution, with healthcare workers involved in needs assessments, user interface testing and training. Their feedback has driven continuous improvements in the platform’s usability and functionality.
Following the Enugu launch, Interswitch plans to extend eClinic to more federal and state health institutions. Upcoming enhancements include AI-powered diagnostic tools, integration with health insurance systems and improved supply chain management.
Through its health-tech initiatives, Interswitch continues to play a vital role in transforming Nigeria’s healthcare landscape, advancing digital inclusion and setting new benchmarks in service delivery.
