Families have been urged to be deliberate and intentional in raising children with sound moral values.
Critical stakeholders also said strong homes remain the foundation of a stable and morally upright society.
The call was made during the 20th anniversary of The Wife, a Christian family-focused organisation, committed to strengthening marriages and promoting godly homes, held at Golden Gate Hotel, Lagos.
Founder of the organisation, Dr. Nkem Okoro, urged parents to embrace biblical principles and raise children according to God’s purpose. She warned that society’s future depends largely on the values instilled in the family.
“We serve an orderly God, and He expects every family to reflect that order. Families must be intentional about raising children the right way, while husbands and wives should strive to fulfil God’s purpose for marriage,” she said.
Okoro explained that The Wife was established to build godly families, where husbands fulfil their responsibilities, wives excel in their roles and children are raised with sound moral values.
Reflecting on the organisation’s 20-year journey, she described the anniversary as a testament to God’s faithfulness, expressing satisfaction that younger leaders had successfully sustained its vision after she stepped aside from active leadership about a decade ago.
Chairman of the occasion, Mr. Olapoju Oladinni, urged parents, especially mothers, to devote quality time to raising their children rather than leaving the responsibility entirely to domestic workers. He also advised parents to monitor their children’s exposure to digital technology and online platforms.
Current leader of The Wife, Dr. Grace Dimeanozie, described the anniversary as a celebration of God’s faithfulness, saying the organisation had continued to transform marriages through faithful stewardship, integrity and purposeful service.
She disclosed that many couples facing marital challenges attended the programme, seeking healing and reconciliation. She urged families to seek God through prayer, biblical counselling and regular study of the scriptures.
Dimeanozie also encouraged women to become economically productive to support their families. She added that The Wife would expand its outreach through television, digital platforms and social media.
Speakers expressed confidence that as the organisation enters its third decade, it will continue strengthening marriages, developing leaders and promoting family values capable of transforming society.
