To those who appreciate the essence of living, life is lived in the moments between the milestones. Energy mogul Ernest Azudialu-Obiejesi understands this perfectly. The billionaire founder of Nestoil Group has earned a reputation for his extravagant tastes, particularly his penchant for acquiring private jets and high-end automobiles. But Azudialu has just treated himself to a private jet upgrade. He has solidified his status as a prominent player in the international business arena as he joined the exclusive group of global elite and one of the first buyers of the new luxury Gulfstream G-700 jet. Azudialu flew severally around the world on his Gulfstream GIV N990EA private jet but now he’s set to replace it with a state of the art G-700. This latest acquisition reflects the billionaire’s unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation.
Spotlight learnt that Okija, Anambra State-born billionaire ordered the Gulfstream’s new flagship model that cost $76 million —over N60 billion— from the Savannah, Georgia, United States-based manufacturer in November 2022. The ultra-luxurious new G-700 Jet has been described as the pinnacle of business aviation excellence. It has the most spacious and flexible interior with room for as many as 19 passengers —and enough space to sleep 13 of them. In fact, the seats can also be converted into beds.
The cabin has up to five living areas, including the all-new ultragalley and a grand suite with shower, to create an ideal flight experience. G-700 featured ovens, a bar and other luxury facilities. It has a private stateroom which is separated from the rest of the aircraft by a bulkhead featuring a sliding, pocket door. Indeed, G-700 —currently in flight test and is anticipated to enter into service later this year— is one of the larger jets on the market and a hugely important member of Gulfstream’s lineup of high-end, bespoke private jets. It will bring the best of both worlds to Azudialu and other select deep-pocketed owners including X (formerly Twitter) owner, Elon Musk.
Azudialu-Obiejesi, 63, incorporated Nestoil in 1991. The company has grown to be one of Nigeria’s foremost indigenous companies in the oil and gas sector. He has set his eyes beyond the shores of Nigeria, looking to build a world-class energy conglomerate. The tycoon, who holds the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic, OFR, equally operates an aviation enterprise, NESTAV which offers helicopter and private jet services.
