Inside Dubai fairy-tale wedding of billionaire’s daughter, Mariam Afolabi

It is a thing of joy for parents to be alive to see their children grow into adulthood, and see them find enough reason to be happy, content and meet great life partners. That’s exactly how billionaire businessman, Dr Taiwo Afolabi, felt penultimate Tuesday when his beautiful first daughter, Mariam Abiola completed her marital rites to the love of her life, Qudus Badmus. At an opulent white wedding ceremony held at the Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach in United Arab Emirates, it was indeed a precious moment for Mariam—an international maritime lawyer and executive director with Sifax Group— as she finally solemnized her union with long-time beau.

For the bride’s father, no expenses were spared to make the extravagant bash —estimated to have cost the billionaire behind Sifax Group and Lagos Marriott Hotel some good money— a wedding to remember. Sources said the Maritime magnate had ferried select family members, friends, some top members of the Nigerian social establishment and high society to Dubai and put them up in the world’s most luxurious hotel for days to witness his daughter tie the knot to her heartthrob. And the banquet hall of the lavish resort —adorned with one million white roses with a mammoth huge wedding cake— packed full with the crème of the pack of Nigeria’s business and political high societies. And the newest couple waltzed across the reception hall of the hotel like two royal scions at the threshold of their dreams. The couple is said to be enjoying a splendid honeymoon at some idyllic vacation spots in Europe.
