Insecurity: Northern governors converge over terror attacks

Northwest governors

The Northern Governors’ Forum met on Saturday in Kaduna to address the incessant killings across the region.

The meeting was confirmed by Director-General, Press Affairs, Gombe Government House, Ismaila Misilli.

Misilli disclosed that the meeting was convened by the NGF Chairman and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammad Yahaya.

During the meeting, the governors reaffirmed their commitment to collective action in addressing the pressing socio-economic challenges confronting their states.

Forum Chairman and Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, said the region is plagued by insecurity, poverty, and underdevelopment, which require a regional, rather than isolated, approach.

Radda urged enhanced collaboration among the states to ensure more effective and impactful interventions.

Additionally, Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, emphasised the importance of strategic partnerships with development agencies like UNICEF and other international organisations.

According to Sani, such collaborations boost progress in education, healthcare, and youth empowerment across the region.

Charting a united front, the governors promised to ensure the alignment of development strategies, share resources, and coordinate responses to transform the Northwest into a more secure and prosperous zone.
