Theatre Commander, Joint Task Force North East, Operation Hadin Kai, Maj Gen Christopher Musa, has ordered troops in the counter-insurgency operation not to show mercy to terrorists, insurgents and other criminal elements that constitute enemies of Nigeria and her citizens.

Gen Musa gave the charge while addressing military participants of the In-Theatre Train-the-Trainers’ Course, Batch 4 of 2022, at the Theatre Command Headquarters in Maiduguri, Borno State.

“I urge you to stand up to your responsibility as defenders of Nigeria’s territorial integrity by neutralising every terrorist in the North East without mercy,” he charged.

He stressed the need for continuous training, noting that training enhances troops’ professionalism and makes them better soldiers. He enjoined them to put all the knowledge gained during the training into use in their area of responsibility.

The Theatre Training Officer, Brig. Gen SJA Ilorin, said the two weeks of rigorous training was designed to enhance participants’ knowledge on international humanitarian law, civilian harm mitigation, use of offline map, ambush and anti ambush drill.

Others, according to him, include radio communication, night navigation and other military tactics, techniques and procedures in combat.
