It was jubilation on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, when troops of the history of the Nigerian Army Battalion, landed in Omu-Aran, headquarters of Irepodun Local Government, Kwara State. Their deployment was in response to the increasing security challenges in the state.
The troops were received by the Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba Abdulraheem Oladele Adeoti, alongside the Olomu-in-Council. The reception was also graced by traditional rulers, including the Onipetu of Ipetu-Igbomina, Alaran of Arandun, Oloko of Oko-Irese, Onirore of Rore and Alaran of Aran-Orin.
Also present were the President of Omu-Aran Development Association, Elder Omoniyi Adeyeye, Major General Lasisi Yemi Abidoye (retd.) and others.
The deployment of the Army Battalion to Omu-Aran marks a significant milestone for security, peace, stability and development in Kwara South Senatorial District.
The officers and men of the Nigerian Army were warmly received as the people look forward to a strong and mutually beneficial relationship between the military and the community.
