Incumbents thrash Lawan Farouk, others in Kano APC Reps primary

Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday announced the outcome of the party’s primary elections in four of the 24 federal constituencies.

A verbal statement by the APC spokesperson, Auwalu Soja, disclosed that the party was unable to reach consensus on four of its House of Representatives tickets, resulting in the conduct of primaries in these constituencies as provided by law.

Announcing the official result, he stated that Kabiru Idris Dan-hassan and Mukhtar Chedi contested the ticket for Madobi /Garin Mallam Federal Constituency, adding that Chedi, the incumbent member of the House won at the end of the day.

He said a former member of the House of Representatives, Lawan Farouk, lost to the incumbent, Yusuf Ahmed Bado in the race for Bagwai /Shanono Federal Constituency.

In Dambatta Federal Constituency, the incumbent Hamisu Ibrahim Chideri defeated Sani Maidaji while in Dawakin Kudu/Warara Federal Constituency,  Shiabu Rabiu Danboko, equally an incumbent, defeated Mustapha Bala Dawaki.

The spokesman remarked that the primary elections were  free and fair and devoid of rancor, adding that all the aspirants were offered a level playing field during the exercise.    

He said that the rest of the 20 party tickets for the House of Representatives were successfully determined by consensus, indicating that the party was now in high spirits for the battle tothne House of Representatives in the 2027 polls.
