Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has commenced distribution of sensitive materials to the 13 Local Government Areas of Nasarawa State.
Briefing newsmen after inspecting the materials at the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN Lafia, INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state Mr. Uthman Ajidagba said the items were adequate and sorted out according to the local government areas of the state.
Mr. Ajidagba explained that the materials which are made up of ballot papers, result sheets and Bimodal Voter Accreditation System BVAS had been customized according to each of the 3245 polling units in the state.
He stated that the sensitive materials would be delivered to INEC local government offices where they would be moved to the various Registration Areas ahead of the Saturday general election.
The sensitive materials were distributed in the presence of security agencies, officials of political parties and some of the candidates participating in the elections.
Meanwhile, Nigeria Police Force says it has deployed 4,202 personnel to provide security during the 2023 General Election in Nasarawa State.
Commissioner of Police in the state mr. Maiyaki Baba stated this while briefing political parties and domestic observers accredited for the elections in Lafia the Nasarawa State.
Mr. Maiyaki Baba explained that in the last few days, the police in collaboration with other security agencies had stepped up surveillance patrols accross the state to avert any act capable of breaching the peace during the elections.
