A human rights organisation, Stand For Humanity Foundation, has taken its campaign against child abuse to the Umuozu community in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State, vowing to ensure more offenders are jailed.
The President of the organisation, Chidiebube Okeoma, who addressed villagers at the Nkwodim Square, warned that abusers of children risk jail terms. Okeoma also addressed countless children from the village who were brought to the awareness campaign ground, urging the minors to behave responsibly.
The human rights activist said his organisation was clamping down on all abusers of children, noting that many offenders were already in prison and police custody. He encouraged parents and guardians to send their children and wards to school, adding that a child’s right to education is fundamental.

“Our organisation has zero tolerance for abuse of children. Send children in your care to schools. It is a crime if any child in your house is not in school. If we catch you, you will be put in jail. Children are gifts from God, so stop abusing them. If you don’t have the right temperament to tolerate the inadequacies of children in your care, take them home to their biological parents or hand them over to the government.”
“In the 21st century, abusing children or exposing them to harmful practices or sleeping with them are crimes. Our organisation, Stand For Humanity Foundation, is in the vanguard of protecting the rights of children. If we must have a future that will be good for us all, every child must be protected. Say no to child abuse,” he added.
Okeoma’s speech attracted applause from the villagers, with many volunteering to work with the Stand For Humanity Foundation to curb the scourge.
