Former governor of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim, has heaped plaudits on indigenes of the state for making indelible marks in Nigeria’s development.
He made the remark in his goodwill message to the government and people of Imo on the state’s Golden Jubilee anniversary celebration.
Ohakim noted that over the past five decades Imo State has produced remarkable individuals who have excelled in various fields, contributing significantly to Nigeria’s development.
“From governance and education, to commerce, culture, sports, and public service, Ndi Imo have made indelible marks”.
In a statement titled, “A message of congratulations and reflection”, which he personally signed and made available to Daily Sun, the former governor wrote: “I am delighted to extend my warmest congratulations to the Government and people of Imo State, under the distinguished leadership of Governor Hope Uzodimma, as they commemorate a significant milestone, 50 years of statehood.

“This momentous occasion provides an opportunity for introspection, gratitude, and rededication to the noble ideals that have shaped the state’s history”.
He extolled the virtues of the founding fathers and past leaders of Imo State, while he urged the current and future administrations to prioritise unity, fairness, justice, and inclusive development.
“As we celebrate this achievement, we acknowledge the visionaries, leaders, and citizens who laid the foundation of the state, often under challenging circumstances.
“As Imo State embarks on its next phase, it is imperative to prioritise unity, fairness, justice, and inclusive development. The people-centred approach of the current administration, as exemplified by Governor Uzodimma’s leadership, is a step in the right direction. “I urge all stakeholders to emulate this spirit of collective responsibility, transcending parochial interests and working towards a brighter future for all.
As we look ahead, I am confident that the resilience, ingenuity, and solidarity of the Imo people will continue to drive progress and prosperity”.
Ohakim commended the people of Imo State, at home and in the diaspora, for their unwavering commitment to the state’s growth and development, while he called on all stakeholders to make the most of the Golden Jubilee celebration as a catalyst for renewed hope, faith, and optimism.
