As Imo State gear up for its forthcoming governorship election, candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) Chief kemdi Opara’s chances of victory received a boost on Wednesday as Imo Council of Chiefs better known as “Nze na Ozo endorsed him as their preferred flaggbearer.
The traditional title holders who paid him a courtesy call at his Obazu Mbieri country home on Wednesday hinged their decision to support him on the fact that he is eminently qualified and desecribed his vision-driven manifesto is endearing.
They assured him of their support and resolve to galvanise the grassroots to vote for him in the November,11 governorship election.
Also emphasising their reasons for identifying with Opara,leader of the delegate, Nze Kelvin Nwosu who decried the risising poverty in the State said they have chosen Opara among other contenders because of his quality of education.
” Our dear State is really suffering of hardship, we wake up daily to see the rise of poverty with no hope of seing its end,but thank God for sending Dr. Kemdi Chino Opara to save us.
” With him on the helms of affair in Imo ,the State would be boasting of having for the first time a real academician ,well read to liberate us from the shackles of poverty and the unlucky situation of the State being governed by people who lack good educational background” .
While reposing their confidence in him to make a positive change if he assume office after the election ,the council of chiefs appealed to him to elevate their status through an Act of Parliament so that they could contribute their own quota in fighting insecurity in the State.
Opara in his speech appreciating the council for their endorsement, he assured them of running an all-inclusive and people-oriented government, pointing out that 75 percent of his cabinet will comprised of the youths .
He reiterated his commitment to pursue vigorously his 5 points development agenda of restoring peace and security, free education, quality healthcare delivery, massive infrastructural development and ensuring sustainable economic prosperity in the State.
