The Youth Wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State has ruled out any affiliation with the alleged Rainbow Coalition, declaring that Imo State remains a stronghold of the APC.

The position was contained in resolutions reached at a strategic meeting of the APC youth leadership held in Owerri, which was presided over by the state Youth Leader, Franklin Chukwuemeka Ibeh.

The group said the APC remains the sole political platform it recognises in the state and cautioned members against any political alignment that could undermine party unity and its electoral objectives.

It reaffirmed its loyalty to Governor Hope Uzodimma and President Bola Tinubu, rejecting any political alignment outside the APC and pledging commitment to the party’s progressive ideals and the Renewed Hope agenda.

Ibeh said the youth wing resolved to strengthen supervision across party structures to ensure strict compliance with grassroots mobilisation plans and to fully integrate young members into decision-making and mobilisation activities.

He said the group would anchor its mobilisation strategy on unity, grassroots engagement and coordinated efforts across the 27 local government areas of the state, with a view to ensuring total victory for the ruling party in the 2027 general elections.

The youth wing attributed Governor Uzodimma’s infrastructural development efforts to the party’s growing political prospects in the state, saying the projects provide a basis for engaging voters.

On the 2027 polls, the group declared that apart from President Tinubu and Governor Uzodimma, who is eyeing a senatorial seat, other APC candidates for legislative and executive positions will win their elections in the state. It also warned against diversion of funds allocated for mobilisation, insisting that party chairmen and other officials entrusted with such funds must account for their use.

The leadership further dismissed reports alleging that state youth leaders received luxury sports utility vehicles (SUVs) from the National Youth Leader, describing the reports as false, baseless, and misleading.

The meeting ended with a renewed call for unity, discipline, transparency, and effective grassroots mobilisation to consolidate the APC’s political strength in Imo.
