Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State has said he was ready to forfeit his second term in office agenda, than allow corruption to thrive in the 21 local government areas of the state.
Bagudu, who stated this, on Monday, during a reception held for newly elected chairmen and councillors in the state said his administration would not back off on the on going local government workers verification.
Apparently referring to the consequences of flushing out ghost workers, Governor Bagudu said; ” I don’t care about the consequences even if it will cost me my second term.
” I will rather forfeit second term in 2019 than allow corruption in 21 local government areas in our State. This verification exercise will continue until will get real workers “.
Governor Bagudu noted that in a local government in the state, over 3,900 workers are on the pay roll while a council in Lagos State larger than five local government areas in Kebbi State employs 500 workers.
He charged the new chairmen and councillors to complement State Government efforts to create employment opportunities for youth in the state .
Earlier, a renowned Islamic Scholar in the state, Shierk Abass Mohammed Jega, in his lecture, advised politicians in the state to shun adultery and sniffing of hard drugs.
He noted that if they continued in the bad act, it would be difficult for them to govern the state with the fear of God.
Chief of Staff to the governor, Alhaji Suleiman Muhammed Argungu, also charged the newly elected officers of the councils to see their election as a call to serve humanity and not to achieve selfish agenda.
