Nigerian singer, Ice Prince has stated that he, not Davido, is the first African artist to receive a BET on stage at the award ceremony.

According to reports, until recently, African performers were honored backstage at the BET Awards.

Ice Prince, who won the Best International Act, Africa Award in 2013, stated on a recent edition of ‘Listening’ that he broke the jinx, not Davido, as fans had incorrectly attributed.

“I am the first African artiste to go on a BET stage and receive an award solo… When you guys talk about it, you guys give that credit to Davido,” he said.

Davido drew notice with his victory speech at the 2018 BET Awards, when he won Best International Act.

During his speech, he advocated for increased collaboration between American and African artists.
