From Desmond Mgboh, Kano
kano State Governor-elect, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has vowed that his administration would be based on merit and work hard to right wrongs inflicted on the state over the years.
He stated this when he inaugurated a 65-member Transition Committee chaired by a one-time Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, Dr. Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, with a retired permanent secretary in the state, Abdulahi Musa, as Secretary.
He announced that he would run a progressive government that would be responsive to the yearnings and aspirations of the people of the state.
He explained that the committee would ensure an orderly transfer of power and tasked them to carry out their task with professionalism, dedication, sincerity and patriotism and to play their roles with skills and efficiency.
He stressed that their assignment would set the stage for the administration’s journey to enduring peace, economic prosperity and sustainable development.
He appreciated the electorate, particularly youths and women for ensuring their victory at the polls and appealed to them to extend the same support to the incoming government.
He called on the Ganduje administration to cooperate with the transition committee with a view to ensuring a seamless and hitch-free transition.
Bichi, chairman of the committee, pledged, on behalf of the members, to work hard to realise their objectives, saying his members were aware of the huge responsibility and confidence reposed on them.
