Former chairman of Owan West Local Government Area, Frank Ilaboya, is set to formally declare his intention to contest for a seat in the Edo State House of Assembly.

The declaration ceremony, tagged, “Mother of All Declarations in Owan West,” will be held at the Owan West Local Government Secretariat by 10am today.

In a statement by the aspirant, he called on residents of Owan West, particularly members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to attend the event, assuring that arrangements had been concluded for a successful outing.

He expressed confidence in the party’s backing, noting that the entire APC structure in the local government would be present, including ward executives, ward leaders and key stakeholders across the 11 wards.

He described the level of support as encouraging, stating that it underscored growing confidence in his aspiration ahead of the contest.

Several prominent party figures and stakeholders are expected at the event, including former two-time Owan West chairman and former House of Representatives member, Johnson Abolagba. Others are former local government party chairman, Luggard Alukpe; retired police officer, Samson Ekeinde; journalist and former House of Representatives aspirant, Erasmus Ikhide and youth mobiliser, Odion Omogbai.

Media organisations billed to cover the ceremony include Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Independent Radio and Television and BeTV, alongside a digital media team led by tech entrepreneur Steven Imoukhuede.

The event is expected to draw a large crowd and signal the formal commencement of Ilaboya’s campaign for the state assembly seat.
