Ex- governor of Imo State, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha and Reps Member – elect for Ideato Federal Constituency Barr Ikenga Ugochinyere Imo on Thursday deferred their invitation by the Imo state police command to next week Tuesday.
Recall that the Imo state police command had on Monday invited the former Imo governor for questioning over alleged kidnapping and murder .
The invitation letter which was addressed to chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state, Charles Ugwu, was written by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration, Ukachi Opara read ” the office of State Intelligence Bureau, Imo state police command, state headquarters Owerri, is investigating the above underlined case involving some prominent members of Peoples Democratic Party, Imo state chapter.
The Commissioner of Police, Imo state command requests you come along with the following persons, Emeka Ihedioha, Ugochinyere Ikenga Imo, Gerald Irona, to interview the commissioner of police, through the officer in charge of State Intelligence Bureau, Owerri date,Thursday, 16th March , 2023, time 10:00 prompt.”
Confirming the shift in the date for the appearance of the ex-governor Ihedioha and Ikenga Ugochinyere Imo, spokesperson of the Imo state command ASP Henry Okoye, said that the suspects had written to the police demanding that the police invite be shifted till Tuesday next week.
He said ” they wrote to us requesting that the invitation be differed till Tuesday after the elections. The new date is now Tuesday .”
Also , recall that the immediate past Deputy Governor ,Engr Gerald Irona has been remanded in the prison custody since last Thursday on alleged charges of terrorism , felony and converting of public property to personal use preferred against by the State Government.
