Kwara State Police Command has arrested over 55 suspected bandits, kidnappers, armed robbers, and murderers. Seventeen victims were rescued and recovered 40 arms and ammunition from their hideouts.
Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adekimi Ojo, told Inspector General of Police (IGP) confab in Abuja recently: “We have declared war against bandits and terrorists and we will soon smoke them out of the state. The command has heightened security measures during this festive season. Residents are assured of a peaceful festive season.
“There is a joint surveillance and intelligence sharing operation ongoing to prevent security breaches. We reiterate that the use, sale, and distribution of fireworks, bangers and other explosive devices remain strictly prohibited. Offenders caught will be prosecuted.
“Operatives during a stop-and-search operation intercepted a Toyota Corolla with Reg EP 484ABC along Gbugbu-Patigi Road. Four suspected bandits were arrested.
“Police rescued a kidnapped victim in Obate-Eyenkorin axis of Asa LG. The kidnappers demanded N30 million ransom for the release of the victim but later reduced it to N150,000. Ten kidnappers terrorising were arrested. The bandits stormed Christ Apostolic Church [CAC], Oke-Isegun in Eruku community in Ekiti LG.

“Police operatives arrested suspected armed robbers through intelligence gathering at Oro-Ago motor park. Police also arrested four suspects over the killing of the Chief Imam of Sokunkpan in Tsaragi district of Edu LG, Alhaji Abdullaahi Audu, following a mob attack allegedly carried out by residents.
“We rescued three kidnap victims, including a six-month-old child, in Igbonla, Irepodun LG. We also rescued a kidnap victim and arrested two suspects during a coordinated operation in Omu-Aran forest, Irepodun LG.
“Operatives arrested five suspects over the murder of 13 vigilantes in Oke-Ode. Also, 16 suspected armed robbers, vigilantes and kidnappers were arrested. Operatives and vigilante members executed a rapid tactical deployment to Adekanbi village via Bode–Saadu, where they neutralised one of the bandits.
“Police and the Department of State Service [DSS] arrested a criminal involved in the supply of food and fuel to persons linked to various acts of kidnapping and other criminal activities.”
