Ebonyi State Police Command has clamped down on 28 suspected kidnappers and armed robbers. Commissioner of Police, Mrs. Adaku Uche Anya, who spoke at the Inspector General of Police [IGP] conference, Abuja, said: “I have charged officers to go after the criminals.
“We have declared war against the criminals. We raided their hideouts and more arrests will still be made. I charged officers, area commanders and DPOs to tackle hoodlums in the state. I redeployed operatives of the Police Tactical Team to flash points including the Ebonyi-Enugu Expressway.
“In 2025, we arrested 1,733 criminal suspects in connection with 913 cases. They included 1,624 male and 109 female suspects. Four hundred and sixty-two cases involving 822 male and 22 female suspects were investigated and subsequently charged to court.
“Nine kidnapped victims were rescued, while six stolen vehicles were recovered. I undertook extensive tours of the 13 local governments of the state, to ensure criminals are checked out of the state.
“I express my profound appreciation to the gallant officers of the command, sister security agencies, strategic stakeholders and the peace-loving residents of Ebonyi State for their support and cooperation, which contributed significantly to the successes recorded in 2025.
“In 2026, the command will consolidate on these achievements by deepening community policing initiatives, strengthening synergy with sister agencies, enhancing officers’ capacity through in-house training and ensuing professionalism and civility in interaction with the public.

“Operatives arrested 10 suspected armed robbers within the Abakaliki axis. The Anti-Kidnapping Squad foiled kidnappers in Ivo LG. Officers should apply professionalism, when carrying out investigations. They should conduct themselves with decorum and alertness to promote intelligence policing, proactive crime prevention strategies and engagement.
“I want to thank government for given us an operational vehicle we are using to wage war against criminals. The command has imbibed community policing. This assisted us with stakeholders, community leader, Oba, and other sister agencies to flush out criminals.
“Officers are warned to shun corruption and be committed on professionalism, selflessness and service. There will be priorities under my watch. New operational strategies training and retraining of personnel will be paramount to enhance tactical engagement.
“IGP Olukayode Egbetokun will configure our security Architecture to the area of responsibility. We will carry out confidence building and crime prevention patrol in the environs.
“Member of the public should always be at alert to suspicious movements. We appreciate them for the useful pieces of information made available to the command.
