What could be the most practical effort in pursuit of the development of Igboland had just taken place in Enugu, with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for a project worth N15 trillion across the region.
The MOA which was signed between a leading real estate development firm in Nigeria, Hand of God Construction Company Limited and a pan-Igbo consortium, Igboebinie Plc, is for the development of 100,000 mixed housing units across the five states of the South East zone, as well as Delta and Rivers states in South South zone.
The governments of the five South East states have already given their full support for the project with Enugu taking the lead by making available 50,000 plots of land.
The project, which was ideally conceived by Hand of God and Igboebinie, is said to be tailored to create smart cities rated to international standard, the development of conducive environment for trade and commerce, industrialization, investment opportunities and provision of adequate homes befitting the people from all walks of life.
It is also strategically positioned to attract investment, drive economic growth and establish the region as a hub of commerce and industry, hence creating opportunities for a thriving business environment and creating a bright future for all.
In his welcome address at the ceremony which took place at Amadeo Event Centre, Enugu, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Hand of God Construction Company Limited, Pastor David Emeka Nwachukwu, described the project as “an era-defining project.”
Nwachukwu, who is also the Vice President of Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN) South East, said the success of the ground-breaking project hinges on the synergy and collaboration among all the key players involved.
Noting that those gathered were united for the sole purpose of advancing the interests of Ndigbo across the world, he said, “As we all know, Nigeria’s population is growing rapidly and the housing sector is facing a significant deficit. To bridge this gap, the South East region needs innovative solutions and a customised digital structure for enhanced housing infrastructure, and building sustainable communities. Fortunately, the Igbo spirit is rooted in resilience and determination, “Igba mbo,” a relentless drive to strive and thrive despite challenges. This innate ability to turn limited resources into opportunities is what will propel our region forward, particularly in addressing the housing crisis, marking the beginning of massive economic development of Igboland and unlimited employment generation in the South East zone. This partnership is about putting that spirit into action.
“The need to revitalise Igboland sparked the South East REDAN cities initiative. Our UK trip in 2024 was a turning point, where we discovered a shared vision with Igboebinie for the region. After extensive deliberations, we recognized the potential for collaboration. Hand of God Construction Company has since traversed the South East, securing strategic land acquisitions to bring this vision to life.
Our goal is to create vibrant, inclusive spaces that enhance residents’ quality of life and to drive economic growth in the region.”
In his own address, the President of Igboebinie Plc, Prince Chinedu Nsofor, disclosed that Igboebinie mechanism was born out of the realization that Nigeria possesses all the abilities and potentials to accomplish her desire through her people.
Nsofor stressed that wisdom, unity of purpose, and intelligence were required to birth a new Igbo nation that would galvanize all latent abilities towards a united, peaceful, and progressive Ndigbo within the Nigerian Federation, which he said involves cooperation with all progressive Nigerians of varied ethnicities.
He said: “We, therefore, by the grace of God, Chukwuokike, formed Igboebinie Plc. to answer this clarion call of building a new Igboland of unity, peace, and unlimited prosperity with zero tolerance to corruption within the Nigerian Federation.
“Ndigbo have all it takes to create massive wealth in Igboland, Nigeria and Africa, thereby ending unemployment, poverty, and insecurity through promoting gainful trade and commerce, education, technology, industry, agriculture, culture, and clean environment. Igboebinie is designed with equity participation of governments of Anambra, Abia, Enugu, Imo, Ebonyi, Delta and Rivers, working as an integrated force towards this industrial revolution.

God created us in the likeness of His own image and gave us the Holy Charge to go and dominate the earth by multiplying our talents, bringing down His Kingdom on Earth and doing His Will on Earth as it is in Heaven.
