In a bold move to democratise access to cutting-edge technology careers, Black Talent & Leadership in STEM (BTLS) hosted the second edition of its “Get Future Ready with BTLS” series: the Introduction to Web Development webinar.

Led by software developer and AI specialist Ifeanyi Madu, this groundbreaking masterclass breaks down barriers for aspiring coders and forges a new pipeline of global STEM talent.

Ifeanyi Madu, a Software Developer at The Range and an MSc graduate in AI & Data Analytics set the ball rolling by encouraging the attendees that they do not have to have a prior coding experience, he walked them through core languages like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP and SQL and showing how mastering these fundamentals unlocks opportunities in AI, data science, software engineering and beyond.

He used real-world examples into every segment, from live DOM manipulation demos to hands-on database queries, instilling both technical confidence and a spirit of innovation.

Madu emphasized the role of AI in modern web development, highlighting how artificial intelligence is transforming the way websites and applications are built, optimized, and personalized. According to him, AI isn’t just a trend, it’s a fundamental shift in how modern web development is approached, combining automation, personalization, and accessibility into the very fabric of the web.

Drawing on his extensive industry experience and dedication to mentorship (including his work with the Tony Elumelu Foundation and as a BTLS YAC committee member), Madu delivered an immersive, no-prerequisites-needed training that attracted over 150 participants from six continents.

But Madu’s vision extends further than a single webinar as he gave opportunities to participants to apply for a free, three-month online bootcamp with advanced labs and one-to-one mentorship to cement their skills and fast-track career growth

When asked by an attendee what his long-term strategy to cultivate a truly global tech community would be, Madu explains that he is partnering with universities and innovation hubs across Africa, Asia and Europe building a lasting pipeline of diverse talent ready to shape the digital future. This initiative underscores why Ifeanyi Madu is not only a standout practitioner but a visionary leader poised to make a significant impact on the world stage.
