Obalufe of Ile-Ife, His Royal Majesty, Oba Idowun Olaniyi Adediwura has congratulated a former Minister of Tourism, Femi Fani-Kayode, on his appointment as an ambassador, describing it as a recognition of experience, visibility, and sustained engagement in national and international affairs.
The monarch in a statement said Ile-Ife takes pride whenever one of her sons is called to serve the nation beyond her shores and expressed the hope that the former minister will discharge his new assignment with dignity and strong sense of national consciousness.
His words: “On behalf of the ancient city of Ilé-Ifẹ̀, the cradle of the Yorùbá race and spiritual nucleus of our people, and in my capacity as the Ọbalúfẹ̀ of Ilé-Ifẹ̀, Prime Minister of the Kingdom and Second-in-Command to His Imperial Majesty, the Ọ̀ọ̀ni of Ife, I extend profound congratulations to Chief Femi Fani-Kayode on his appointment as an Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“This appointment is recognition of experience, visibility, and sustained engagement in national and international affairs. As the fountain from which identity, culture, and leadership flow, Ilé-Ifẹ̀ takes pride whenever one of her sons is called to serve the nation beyond her shores. It is a moment that reflects both trust and responsibility.
“Diplomacy, in its truest form, demands wisdom, restraint, courage, and deep cultural understanding. Ilé-Ifẹ̀ believes that representation on the global stage must be anchored on honour, clarity of purpose, and loyalty to the collective destiny of the nation. It is our expectation that this assignment will be carried out with dignity and a strong sense of national consciousness.
“As you assume this noble responsibility, the throne of Odùduwà offers earnest prayers for divine guidance and uncommon wisdom.

“May your tenure be marked by honour, restraint, and lasting positive impact, and may you return with increased wisdom and goodwill for the nation you represent.
Ilé-Ifẹ̀ stands proud, hopeful, and prayerful as you embark on this important chapter of service to Nigeria,” the statement read.
