In a breathtaking fusion of history and hope, the famed Idahosa family of Ehor Township has turned their ancestral country home — a proud structure standing for over 100 years — into a cutting-edge College of Nursing Sciences that promises to change the face of healthcare education in Nigeria.

The historic property, located in the bustling heart of Ehor, will now bear the name Bishop JWI Idahosa Memorial College of Nursing Sciences, in tribute to the Rt. Rev. Johnson Wilfred Izevbokun Idahosa — the first Bini Anglican Bishop of the Benin Diocese and one of the most celebrated sons of Edo State.

For the Idahosa family, this is more than a building conversion — it’s a mission.

“Bishop Idahosa believed in the transformative power of education. We are bringing that vision into the 21st century,” the family declared.

The new college will stand at the forefront of nursing education in Nigeria, deploying advanced visual and physical simulation labs to train students with the precision and realism of modern medical practice.

What sets this institution apart is its plan to harness the expertise of the Nigerian diaspora— healthcare professionals scattered across the globe — to inject world-class standards, innovation, and global perspectives into its training.

Ehor Township, once a quiet spot in Edo State’s heartland, now stands on the brink of becoming a national hub for nursing excellence. The Bishop JWI Idahosa Memorial College will not only honour a towering figure in Nigeria’s Anglican history, but also equip a new generation to carry forward his legacy — saving lives, serving communities, and lifting the standard of healthcare across the nation.

As the century-old walls of the Idahosa country home echo with the voices of future nurses, one thing is certain: History is not just being remembered in Ehor — it’s being made.
