I2 dead, 8 injured in Imo auto crash

At least twelve people died in a  motor accident along Onitsha/Owerri road, Imo State, yesterday.

Imo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Henry Okoye,revealed that a  truck, with registration  number: T 16716 LA, bearing the inscription NUPENG, was driving against traffic  and collided with a commuter bus  ,with number plate:ABB 79 BX, transporting members of Jehovah’s Witness Church,from Anambra State to Agwa village in Imo state.

Okoye ,however ,added that the deceased, which include: eight adults and four children, have been evacuated and deposited at Ogbaku Mortuary, while  the injured persons are receiving treatment at Divine Hospital ,Awo-Omamma.

Meanwhile,  Commissioner of police, Aboki Danjuma,has expressed  his condolences to the bereaved families and wished the injured persons quick recovery.

He Warned motorists against reckless practices, such as driving against traffic, excessive speeding, and negligence.

He urged road users to prioritize safety, obey traffic regulations and drive responsibly.
