Mariam Oyakhilome is a Nigerian comedian, YouTuber, actress, brand influencer, and entrepreneur.

In this interview with Sunday Sun, the outspoken entertainer opens up about the painful heartbreak she experienced in 2025, her views on marriage, and her aspirations for the future.

How did you celebrate the last Christmas holiday?

I hadn’t seen my parents for a while, so I decided to go spend the Yuletide season with them. I am still here in their house.

How would you rate 2025 generally?

2025 was my comeback year. I have been away from social media for the longest and last year I decided to come back. And I came back with my reality show called (Love and Chaos). It has started getting attention from people. So, this 2026, I am only going to get bigger because I am planning on a bigger comeback.

What are some lessons learnt?

It’s never too late to start all over. You can fail at something. That is okay, but don’t stay down for too long.

The second lesson is that no one owes you anything. Thirdly, don’t blame anyone for your failure. The power of success and failure is in your hands.

You took a break? Why?

Social media was getting too toxic for me and I went through a hurtful heartbreak that really got to me. I left Instagram first, then I went to Facebook where I had gathered a large followership. I have 2.2 million followers there. After a while, I left there too. I started streaming on TikTok, but it’s just like one can’t run away from the toxic lifestyle on these social apps. Honestly, I don’t have any other talent or skill; social media is the only job I am good at. I ventured into a couple of businesses, which I failed in, and I had to advise myself to come back to what I am very good at.

You left or he left? Was infidelity the cause?

I found out he was married and his wife was in Nigeria. We had an issue one day, so I decided to go and find him on Facebook, and I saw that he had his wife’s pictures there. That really hurt me. I stopped working. I stopped associating with anyone. I was suicidal because it was a lot for me. That really affected me as a person, my career and my finances.

How did you recover and bounce back?

My friend, Femi Babs, helped me heal during that time. Femi and I ain’t friends anymore though. He led me to God at that time. He was always there for me. He helped me heal.

Would you consider dating or marrying someone from your industry?

No way. I dey mumu online, why will I marry someone who does the same thing as I do? But anyhow sha.

What do you think you missed during your break?

I don’t think I missed anything. I was just not creating content, but I was seeing everything going on.

What is Love and Chaos all about?

Love and Chaos, as the name implies, is a chaotic love show, where I brought in 10 of my friends into a mansion to live with me for nine days. Then I have guests like Nons Miraj, Blessing CEO, Carter Efe, who just had Davido on his live stream and James Brown, among others. It was so chaotic having so many people in my space for days. Some people got into a fight, friendships were tested, and a lot happened. It’s an unscripted reality show.

What was the inspiration behind the show and where is it airing?

I was doing Facebook reality content which my followers liked, so I thought of doing it even bigger and better professionally. Love and Chaos is airing on my YouTube channel (Mariam Oyakhilome TV), and anyone who wants to watch can go to YouTube and search for Love and Chaos.

So far, is it worth the stress?

By the special grace of God, it’s going well for someone who hadn’t been active online. Yes, it’s worth every stress. I am more focused right now, and I am not even thinking about any stress I may have gotten from the show.

How many episodes more are to come?

In total, we shot 11 episodes for Season 1 and we have only posted five of them, we still have six more to go.

What are some of the take-home lessons for fans from Love and Chaos?

Just as the name implies, the drama and chaos are just too much (laughs).
