The Ezendigbo Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area, Lagos State His Royal Highness (HRH) Sunday Ojukwu Eze Udo 11 has denounced the video making the rounds of his sack and replacement by the leadership of the Igbo Speaking Community.
In a swift reaction recently, Eze Sunday Ojukwu told journalists in a press conference organized in his palace that the news of his sack and replacement was unfounded and aimed at tarnishing his image.
He said that the purported sack was misleading to the members of the public and his subjects, the Igbo Speaking Community at home and diaspora and custodians of Igbo culture and tradition who had called from different parts of the world to know the true state of the matter.
He said “There is no dispute in Amuwo Odofin. The community is peaceful. I am not aware of any installation of anyone in my domain.”
Eze Ojukwu who was unanimously elected after the demise of Eze Udo 1 HRH late Eze (Dr) Godian Dimojiaku, the first Eze-Igbo of Amuwo Odofin/Oriade from 2002 to 2019 exhibited before journalists several certificates including the one issued to him by the executive chairman, Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area to show he remained the genuine occupant of the throne. “There was no time I discussed with anyone the issue of installing any Ezendigbo in FESTAC.
“When people say they want to crown Eze, there is usually the elderly Eze who would go with them to receive the blessing. When did the purveyor of the fake news approach my palace for the blessing? if it is true I should even be the one to lead him to the executive chairman of the local government. So I’m not aware of such and the executive chairman of the Local Government I learnt has said that he is not aware.
“In fact I understand that the executive chairman directed his staff to remove all circulars and posters pertaining to the impostor in the areas where he is claiming “His Royal Majesty” to show he is not in support of him. But how can someone come to another man’s town and claim “His Royal Majesty?,” he queried.
