The Department of State Services(DSS), yesterday, said it recovered incriminating materials during a search conducted in the house and office of Mr. Tukur Mamu, Publisher of Desert Herald and lead negotiator with bandits for the release of abductees on the Kaduna-bound train.
The secret service listed huge sums of monies in different currencies and denominations, financial transaction instruments and military accoutrements among items recovered, saying it had obtained valid search warrant for the search.
Its spokesperson, Peter Afunaya, in a statement, said “while further investigations continue, Mamu will, sure, have a day in court.”
Afunaya on Wednesday said Mamu was arrested and extradited from Egypt following a request by military, law enforcement and intelligence community to have him provide answers to answer critical questions on ongoing investigations relating to some security matters in parts of the country.
Manu and some members of his family were intercepetd by Interpol in Cairo, Egypt on their way to Medina in Saudi Arabia for the lesser jajj (Islamic rites) and flowed back to Nigeria.
He alleged the Federal Government wanted to treat him like the Yoruba self-sytled freedom fighter, Sunday Igboho, who was arrested and detained perpetually in Benin Rebublic on his way to the Europe, but that the Egyptian government refused to cooperate with Nigeria.
