The Rotary Club of Lagos West has received commendation from the District Governor of Rotary District 9111, Prince Henry Akinyele, for its outstanding community impact and humanitarian service. During his visit to the club, Akinyele praised the club’s president and members for their drive in repositioning the club’s fortunes through empowerment initiatives, healthcare services, and other activities.
The club’s impactful initiatives, including women empowerment, healthcare projects, and educational support, have made a significant difference in the lives of many. The club’s empowerment programs have provided women with free trade tools, helping them support their families and improve their livelihoods. One beneficiary, Faith Friday, a widow, expressed gratitude for the grinding machine provided by the club, saying it would help her support her four children.
Akinyele emphasised the need for the club to expand its membership to sustain and enhance its efforts. He advised the club to increase its membership from 29 to 40 by the end of the Rotary year and to carry out more impactful projects that will benefit the community.
The Rotary Club of Lagos West’s efforts, spearheaded by the club President, Ndidi-Ted Ezike, are fueled by contributions to the Rotary Foundation, which supports their diverse projects. From healthcare initiatives to community empowerment, the club exemplifies Rotary’s motto: “Service Above Self.” As they continue to serve, their story is a reminder that small acts of kindness can ripple outward, creating lasting change.
