A South Africa-based medical practitioner and philanthropist, Dr. Ademola Tosin Ojo, has urged Africans to adopt healthy lifestyle choices to prevent chronic diseases and promote overall well-being.
Ojo gave the advice during the 13th episode of his health talk programme on The African Portal Radio/TV, hosted by Dare Olusan.
The platform educates the public on major health conditions across Africa, including cancer, stroke, kidney diseases, and malaria.
Ojo, who described healthy living as daily choices that enhance physical and mental health, encouraged Africans to eat nutritious foods, exercise regularly, sleep adequately, avoid harmful substances, manage stress, and undergo routine medical checks.

The medical expert advised adults to engage in at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity physical activity weekly, alongside muscle-strengthening exercises on two or more days.
“Regular exercise helps maintain a healthy weight, strengthens the heart and muscles, improves mood and sleep, and reduces the risk of type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and certain cancers,” he said.
Ojo stated that proper sleep supports the immune system, concentration, emotional well-being, metabolism, and cardiovascular health.
He urged Nigerians to embrace preventive healthcare through routine medical check-ups to enable early detection and timely treatment of diseases.
Ojo reaffirmed his commitment to public health advocacy, and pledged to continue leveraging his platforms to educate communities on healthier choices aligned with his medical expertise.
