How police recovered 32 iPhones, 38 Android phones, others from Lagos thieves

The police in Lagos have made a significant recovery of electronic gadgets, including 32 iPhones and 38 Android phones, from some suspected thieves in the Ikeja area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, SP Abimbola Adebisi disclosed that the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), a unit of the command, made the recovery during a routine patrol.

 

She said, “The recovery followed the interception of two fleeing suspects who abandoned two large ‘Ghana Must Go’ bags upon sighting the operatives near Allen Roundabout, Ikeja, Lagos.

“On Sunday, 5th October, 2025, at about 5:30 a.m., the operatives inspected the bags and discovered 32 iPhones of different models, alongside 38 other smartphones of various brands such as Samsung, Redmi, Tecno, and Honor.”

The command’s spokesperson further said the operatives also recovered five laptops, several smart wristwatches, AirPods, a Samsung Tab, a Sorapad, and a number of damaged phones suspected to have been stolen from different parts of Ikeja and its environs.

The statement quoted the Commander of the RRS, CSP Shola Jejeloye, as stating that preliminary investigations revealed the items were stolen property hurriedly abandoned by the suspects.l

He urged members of the public who may have lost similar devices to visit the RRS Headquarters, Alausa, with verifiable proof of ownership for proper identification and reclaim.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Moshood Jimoh, commended the operatives for their
vigilance and swift response.

He lauded their professionalism and reaffirmed the command’s unwavering commitment to intelligence-led policing, proactive crime prevention, and the continuous enhancement of public safety across Lagos State.
