HOMECOMING™ has celebrated a breakthrough year after bringing the global Start From Scratch DJ education programme to Lagos for the first time, in partnership with AlphaTheta. The 2025 workshops were fully booked and oversubscribed, marking a major step for accessible music training in Africa.
Previously held in cities like London, Berlin, Paris and Amsterdam, the Lagos edition launched at the new HOMECOMING™ space and quickly became a magnet for aspiring DJs. Participants learned core DJ skills — from beat matching and blends to creative storytelling and developing a unique sound.
The sessions featured top African mentors, including Dope Caesar, Weareallchemicals, Honeeay, and collectives Dencity, Floss and Femme Africa, who helped create an inclusive, high-energy learning environment.The success in Lagos strengthens HOMECOMING™’s global mentor network and signals a long-term investment in African DJ culture and talent development. Building on this momentum, HOMECOMING™ and AlphaTheta are preparing an expanded 2026 programme with more cities, more sessions and a deeper curriculum.
