A non-governmental organisation, Highbeekay Foundation has continued its mission of transforming grassroots communities as it conducted a far-reaching outreach program at Oke Iya in Akure South Local Government Area, Ondo State, touching lives through medical care, infrastructure support, and economic empowerment.
A total of 186 resident, majorly elderly and semi-young individuals, turned out for the event, reflecting a strong level of trust and enthusiasm from the community.
The outreach provided a blend of health services and welfare interventions designed to improve the overall well-being of residents.
With six volunteer nurses on ground, participants received essential health screenings including vital signs checks and blood pressure monitoring.
During the exercise, 27 individuals were discovered to have high blood pressure and were promptly advised to seek immediate medical attention to prevent complications.
Beyond medical care, the Highbeekay Foundation also donated solar street lights to enhance safety, visibility, and nighttime security within the community.
This intervention was widely applauded by residents, who noted that improved lighting would significantly reduce security concerns and promote safer movement after dark.
In addition, the foundation extended business support and welfare aid to elderly residents and small-scale entrepreneurs, helping to strengthen livelihoods and provide relief to vulnerable groups within the community.
