From Jude Chinedu, Enugu
There is a heavy security presence at the Enugu State High Court, where the state Election Petition Tribunal is expected to deliver judgement on the petition against the victory of Governor Peter Mbah of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The Tribunal chaired by Justice Kudirat Akano will be delivering judgements on the petitions by Chijioke Edeoga of the Labour Party (LP) and Chris Agu of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) against the return of Dr. Peter Mbah of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as the winner of the election.
The governoship candidates of the LP and the PRP had challenged the election of Mbah on the grounds that their was over voting in some polling units and that they scored the highest number of valid votes cast during the election.
Edeoga and Agu are also challenging the qualification of the PDP candidate alleging that he was not qualified to contest the election having allegedly presented a forged NYSC discharge certificate to INEC.
Our reporter who visited the court observed that their was a heavy presence of both police and military personnel stationed both inside and at the entrance of the court complex.
Major roads leading to the area was cordoned off with over ten security trucks while three Mines Resistant Personnel Careers (MRAPS) where stationed at strategic places close to the complex.
