Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr Tunji Alausa, has said that President Tinubu’s government will continue to deliver quality health care services to Nigerians.

 

Dr Alausa noted that President Tinubu’s vision for a healthier Nigeria is becoming a reality as his administration is ensuring that all.Nigerians have access to quality and comprehensive health care services across the country.

The Minister stated this at the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between Ekiti State Government and Federal Ministry of Health And Social Services on Friday, in Ikole-Ekit.

“Today is the event to mark a significant milestone in our collective effort to improve healthcare delivery across the nation. It is a testament to our commitment to ensuring that every single Nigerian regardless of their location has access to quality and comprehensive healthcare.

“I must extend my deepest appreciation to His Excellency, President Bola Tinubu for his magnanimity in the establishment of this medical center in Ikole-Ekiti. This decision underscores his unwavering dedication to the health and well-being of all Nigerians.

“President Tinubu’s vision for a healthier Nigeria is becoming a reality to initiative like this which brings top tier medical services closer to the people The establishment of this Federal Medical Center aligns perfectly with the president’s agenda to decentralise mad democratise healthcare making it accessible even to the most remote community.

“It is a bold step towards achieving universal health coverage and ensuring that no Nigerian is left behind in our quest for healthier nation.”

Speaking further, Dr Alausa commended the Governor of the state, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, for ensuring that his governmnent prioritises the health of the people of the state.

“I will like to commend the government and people of Ekiti for their foresight and prioritisation of healthcare.

“My dear governor, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, under your able leadership, Ekiti State has consistently demonstrated a profound commitment to health of its citizens. I thank you on behalf of Ekiti State.

“Your Excellency, the dedication of this facility by governmnent for use as a Federal Medical Center, Ikole- Ekiti is.a clear indication of your administration’s dedication to improving the health care infrastructure and services in Ekiti State. The handover of the State Specialist Hospital Ikole-Ekiti to the federal government is not a transfer of assest, it a transfer of hope, potential and brighter future for the people of Ekiti and beyond.

“This facility will now be upgraded and equipped to provide comprehensive medical services, training and research towards becoming a center of excellence in delivery of health care.

“We look forward to the transformation of this hospital to the state-of-the-heart federal medical center that will offer specialised medical services, attract skilled health professionals and provide platform for cutting edge medical research.

“The benefits will extend beyond Ikole-Ekiti, positively impacting the entire region and contributing to the overall improvement of our national health care.

“It is pertinent to mention the synergistic cooperation between our team at the Federal Ministry of Health and Ekiti State Ministry of Health ably led by the dynamic Commissioner, Dr Filani Oyebanji. This collaboration made this process that led to today’s event fruitful, seamless and without rancour.

“Let me reiterate our commitment at the Federal Ministry of Health to working tirelessly with all stakeholders to ensure the success.of this Federal Medical Center. We will provide the necessary support, resources and oversight to make the Federal Medical Center, Ikole-Ekiti, a beacon of hope and a model of excellence”

In his remarks, Governor Oyebanji, lauded the Federal Government and President Bola Tinubu for upgrading the facility. He noted that the initiative will help to address the health care needs of the people of the state and those in neighbouring states

“It is a profound honour to stand before you today as we mark a significant milestone in our collective journey towards improving healthcare and expanding access to quality healthcare services. Today, we gather to formalize an agreement that is not just a contract, but a commitment—one that underscores our shared values and dedication to the well-being of the people of Ekiti State whom we serve.

“My government has always believed that access to quality healthcare is a
fundamental right. This belief is the cornerstone of our mission and drives every decision we make. It is this unwavering commitment that brings us here today, to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the Federal Ministry of Health and the Ekiti State Ministry of Health. This MoU is more than a piece of paper; it is a testament to our shared vision of a healthier, more equitable world.

“The handover of the State Specialist Hospital Ikole-Ekiti signifies a crucial step in addressing the healthcare needs of Ikole Ekiti and Ekiti State as a whole.

” The presence of a Federal Tertiary Hospital in Ikole-Ekiti represents hope for patients battling illnesses beyond the capacity of secondary health care, brings comfort for families in distress, and increases the possibility of a healthier future for many more citizens within the state

“Through this partnership, we aim to bridge the gaps, ensuring that the people of Ikole-Ekiti and its environs receive access to affordable and quality healthcare that they require.

“The presence of a Federal Medical Centre in Ikole Ekiti would significantly benefit surrounding towns, including those in neighbouring states who already sometimes utilize the services of the State Specialist Hospital Ikole-Ekiti for convenience”

The Governor added,”The introduction of advanced healthcare services would address the pressing medical needs of these communities, reducing the distance needed to travel to access quality medical care. This accessibility is crucial for emergency cases, chronic illness management, and routine health check-ups.

“The Federal Medical Centre would attract skilled healthcare professionals to the region, fostering a better health care environment. This influx of medical expertise would enhance the overall quality of care, leading to better health outcomes and increased life expectancy for the local population.

“Additionally, the presence of a Federal Medical Centre would serve as a training ground for medical students and health professionals, promoting continuous learning and improvement in medical practices.

“This MoU is a stepping stone towards a larger goal. It is a demonstration of what can be achieved when the Federal Government and State healthcare institutions work hand in hand. Together, we can overcome obstacles, innovate solutions, and most importantly, save lives.”
