The Sardauna Traditional Council, Gembu, Taraba State, has conferred the traditional title of Dan Sardauna Mambilla on businessman and investor, Dr Hassan Haman Ali-Yusuf, in recognition of his contributions to community development, agriculture and infrastructure.

The appointment was conveyed in a letter signed by the King of Mambilla and President of the Sardauna Traditional Council, His Majesty, HRM Dr Shehu Audu Baju II, following what the monarch described as a unanimous decision of the council.

In the letter, the monarch said the title was conferred on Ali-Yusuf in recognition of his hard work, patriotism and selfless service to the community, irrespective of religious or ethnic differences.

He stated: “The Sardauna Traditional Council, Gembu, deemed it necessary to confer you with the above traditional title in recognition of your hard work and sense of patriotism for selfless services irrespective of religious or tribal affiliation.”

The monarch expressed confidence that the recipient would justify the confidence reposed in him and continue to contribute to the unity, development and progress of the Mambilla community.

Ali-Yusuf, who already holds the traditional title of Maidala Mambilla, meaning generous one and silent achiever, has investments in agribusiness and infrastructure development across the Mambilla region.

Information from the council indicated that he had commenced cattle-rearing and irrigation projects in more than three locations across the Gembu area as part of efforts to boost agricultural activities and economic opportunities in the region.

He was also said to have secured licences for two quarry and mining sites through his construction company, Haman & Foreman Construction Company, with the deployment of operational equipment reportedly underway.

Speaking on the new honour, Ali-Yusuf said his priority remained meeting the expectations of the people through investments that would create employment opportunities, generate wealth and promote economic development across the region.

Born into the family of the late Ambassador Jolly Tanko Yusuf, Ali-Yusuf is a Taraba State indigene whose business investments have contributed to economic activities and infrastructure development in the Mambilla area.

The date for his formal coronation is expected to be announced after the necessary notifications have been sent to the Taraba State Governor and other relevant authorities and the completion of the gazetting process
