Nigeria international Taiwo Awoniyi is going to ’cause a lot of people problems’ according to former Manchester United star Owen Hargreaves.
The retired midfielder was speaking after Awoniyi netted in Nottingham Forest’s 2-1 win over Sheffield United in Friday night’s Premier League encounter.
The former Liverpool FC player has been in great form in the 2023/24 season having scored in back-to-back league matches for Forest.
Hargreaves, who also turned out for England and Bayern Munich during his playing days, highlighted the physical presence that Awoniyi brings to the Forest team. “He’s going to cause a lot of people problems,” Hargreaves told Premier League Productions according to Nigeria Soccer Nigeria.
“Physically, he is just so powerful, so explosive. The weight of that pass is perfect, he just hit it the first time and the header was brilliant.
“Physically, with his size, his leaping ability, and his speed, he will be awful to play against.” Awoniyi and his Forest teammates are set to face Manchester United in another league clash on August 26 at the iconic Old Trafford.Meanwhile, The 26-year-old nnow holds the best scoring run in the Premier League by a Nigerian after he netted for six straight matches.
Awoniyi scored for Nottingham Forest after just three minutes in tonight’s Premier League clash at home against Sheffield United.
He headed home a fine cross by Serge Aurier.
This was his second goal in as many matches in the new season.
Only African stars Mohamed Salah and Emmanuel Adebayor have a better scoring run in the Premier League than Awoniyi – a goal in seven consecutive games.
