Gunmen kill, raze 8 JTF officials, vehicles in Imo

Gunmen on Tuesday morning shot and set ablaze eight officials of the Joint Task Force (JTF) at Eke Nku, Umualumaku in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State.

A source from the community who disclosed the incident to Daily Sun said the hoodlums who have a heavy presence in the area took the JTF team unawares, ambushed and shot them.

Not bothered about their conditions, the source said the victims comprised of two Naval staff,two officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC),two soldiers and two police personels were subsequently set ablaze in their two official hilux vehicles.

Meanwhile, the community is currently deserted as a security helicopter combed nook and cranies of the villages for possible arrest of the culprits.

“All of us are in hiding in different places,some have even ran to the cities,there are heavy security presence now with helicopters hovering everywhere,” the source said.

However, the State police spokesperson, Henry Okoye could not respond to several calls put across his phone line to get a confirmation on the incident.
