Gunmen has reportedly killed a policeman at a checkpoint in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
It was gathered that the incident took place Wednesday evening along G-Hostel junction axis of the state capital.
An eyewitness said the gunmen who were on motorcycle opened fire on the policemen at the checkpoint, killing one instantly.
“They were three on motorcycle. On getting to the check point, the policeman flagged them down ,they slowed down and then opened fire on the police.
“The police retaliated and killed one of them while others escaped”
When contacted, Spokesman of the Ebonyi State Police Command, Chris Anyanwu, confirmed the attack, but said the command was still gathering information on the incident
